Embelin and Levodopa Combination Therapy Mitigates Parkinson's Disease Complications in Mice

Abstract: Purpose: The present work evaluated the neuroprotective potential of embelin either alone and in combination with Levodopa rotenone induced PD (Parkinson’s disease) model mice. Methods: Swiss albino male adult mice were randomly divided into 7 groups. Group-1 (Control) received 2mL/kg olive oil by oral route (p.o.), Groups from 2 to 2.5mg/kg intraperitoneal (i.p.), levodopa was administered Group-3. Group-4 Group-5 given 20mg/kg 40mg/ kg p.o. Group 6 at dose 20 mg 40 mg/ respectively also 7.5 mg/kg At end experiment (22nd day), blood withdrawn retro-orbital puncture estimate various biochemical parameters organs such as liver brain, dissected for histopathological histochemical studies. Results: Drug treatment a (40 kg) (7.5 mg/kg) showed better activity than remaining drug groups based on results biochemical, histopathology α-synuclein protein immunohistochemistry.
